Confidentiality

Confidentiality is super important to me because relationships have to be built on trust. For that reason, I won’t share anything you say to me outside of our sessions unless I am legally required to do so (and even then, the strength of our relationship will ultimately be the deciding factor). 🙂

Scope of Confidentiality

All information disclosed within sessions and the written records pertaining to those sessions are confidential and may not be revealed to anyone without your written permission, except where disclosure is required by law.

Confidentiality Exceptions

While I strive to maintain the confidentiality of all information shared during our sessions, there are certain situations where disclosure may be required by law:

  • Risk of Harm: If there is a threat of serious harm to yourself or another person, we are required to take necessary steps to prevent such harm, which may include disclosing information to relevant authorities.

  • Abuse or Neglect: If there is suspicion of abuse or neglect of children, elderly persons, or individuals with disabilities, we may be required to report this to the appropriate agencies.
  • Legal Proceedings: In the event of certain legal proceedings, we may be compelled to disclose information as required by law.

Client Rights

  • Right to Access: You have the right to review or receive a summary of your information on request, subject to a few limited exceptions defined by law.

  • Right to Request Restrictions: You may request limitations on the use or disclosure of your personal information, although we are not required to agree to these restrictions.

Confidentiality in Digital Communications

We take precautions to protect the confidentiality of your information in any digital communications, such as email or video conferencing. However, it is important to be aware of the potential risks to privacy with digital technology.

Commitment to Security

All records and information are securely stored and are only accessible to authorized personnel. We employ robust security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction of personal information.

Changes to This Statement

We may update this confidentiality statement to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any significant changes and obtain your consent where necessary.
